I just came back from our UNITE Outing, 'Feed Your Souls', hot, sweaty, itchy, and exhausted. I switched on my laptop and found an email from my lecturer chasing for my paper abstract to be presented at an international conference.
Immediately, I was pulled back to reality--one which was full of the 'giants' of stress. Here are just some of my thoughts from the movie we watched during our outing. :) The other outing photos will be up once I have them--we had a fun time at Taman Pertanian!
Facing the Giants is about a Christian Academy football team. We get a peek into the life of a coach who is facing challenges in his life, career, and marriage despite being a strong Christian. We witness how his desperation does not drive him into bottomless despair, but instead brings him to his knees, seeking God's will and trusting God to work all things for good in his life.
We learn about courage. About perseverance. About focusing on the journey ahead and ignoring the voices inside us and around us that tell us we cannot do it.
Are you facing the giants in your life?
As I begin to play a bigger role in building UNITE, I realize that giving my time and serving does not come naturally to me. As I begin to drown in assignments and other commitments, is so easy to give up serving. To back down. To lose faith in building disciples of Christ which will change the world.
But we can choose to face our giants. As the tagline says, never give up, never back down, never lose faith. Are you willing to take this journey?
